Atlas Drugged (Tools for Tomorrow)

A playful analysis of the current moment, in which AI-generated evidence influences what people think and feel, and a speculation about a near future where candidates themselves are engineered as carefully as their messages. The audience uses smart devices to help tune the candidate, navigate political messaging, and compete for clout in a game that determines the end of the show. The production premiered at NYU Skirball in October 2024.

SONTAG: REBORN

Adapted from Susan Sontag's early journals by performer Moe Angelos, SONTAG: REBORN traces Sontag's private life from age 14 to her emergence as a world-renowned author and activist. Directed by Marianne Weems, the production uses poetic video and sound to explore self-discovery, sexual identity, private life, loves and the idiosyncrasies of the iconic intellectual. Based on the books "Reborn" and "As Consciousness is Harnessed to Flesh" by Susan Sontag, edited by David Rieff.

Master Builder

A large-scale production using Henrik Ibsen's classic play The Master Builder as a point of departure. The performance explored family, love, security and fidelity within a full-scale, dilapidated three-story house that was gradually demolished to reveal shifting perspectives. Video, sound and MIDI triggers transformed the house into an instrument. During the day, audiences could explore the installation and its architectural effects, while at night they could see the same installation function theatrically.

JUMP CUT (Faust)

A live film of Faust combining F.W. Murnau's 1926 film with John Jesurun's contemporary rendering of the myth. Classic film, new media, and live performance overlap in a tightly structured, musical production featuring video design by Christopher Kondek and sound design by Dan Dobson.
