Electronic Transportation Vouchers can be redeemed while making a reservation on Amtrak.com by selecting Transportation Voucher as the form of payment. Multiple vouchers may be applied to a reservation, and vouchers may be used across multiple reservations. Transportation Vouchers can only be used once, and any unused amount is forfeited. They are non-transferable, the person named on the voucher must be one of the traveling passengers, and the reservation name must exactly match the voucher name. Transportation Vouchers expire one year from the date they are issued.

eVouchers

In certain situations when you downgrade or cancel a trip, you can receive some or all of your money back in the form of an eVoucher. eVouchers can be redeemed on Amtrak.com, through the Amtrak app, at an Amtrak ticket office, or by phone. One or more eVouchers containing the same name can be used toward a reservation when the eVoucher name matches the full name of one of the travelers. eVouchers are non-transferable, may expire one year after issuance of the original ticket, and unused balances remain on the original eVoucher when redeemed for future travel. Depending on the original ticket's fare rules, funds may be refundable, non-refundable, or a combination of both.
