Eligible pets joining the blood donor program receive a $100 Petbarn voucher, a free full physical examination with each donation, and a free blood test with each donation. Donor candidates undergo health screening. Donations are spaced at least every three months. Dogs must have a good temperament, be aged 1 to 8 years, weigh more than 25kg, be up to date with vaccinations, tick prevention and heartworm medication, be in good health with no serious illnesses or long-term medications, and have never received a blood transfusion. Cats must have a good temperament, ideally be indoor cats, be aged 1 to 8 years, weigh more than 4kg, be up to date with vaccinations and prevention medications, be in good health with no serious illnesses or long-term medications, and have never received a blood transfusion.
