Join Newtown Partners' investment team at an early-stage venture capital firm investing in emerging, disruptive technology startups. The role involves researching markets, industries, companies, and investment themes, presenting findings to senior investment team members, screening opportunities, qualifying inbound leads, and assisting with investment diligence. Duties include pitch note-taking, market research, product reviews, competitive analysis, customer and user reviews, and analysis of financial, customer, user, and engagement metrics. Strong academic performance is required, with a master's degree in economics, finance, or a STEM subject preferred. Experience in marketing or software engineering is advantageous. The firm seeks candidates with 2 to 4 years of post-university experience, preferably in venture capital, private equity, or management consulting, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, strong research and analytical abilities, entrepreneurial spirit, curiosity about new technologies and business models, attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines. Benefits include R25,000 to R40,000 per month basic salary, negotiable based on qualifications and experience, a share in investment performance bonuses, and 20 days of annual leave.
