Choate recruits exceptionally talented law students for its summer associate program, with the goal that each summer associate will earn a full-time offer following graduation. The program includes intensive training from day one, three mentors at the partner, mid-level associate and junior associate levels, substantive client work, case and deal team assignments, legal and factual research, memo writing, briefs, pleadings, estate planning documents, investigations, discovery, diligence, community work and pro bono work. Summer associates are typically hired into the Litigation or Corporate departments, with occasional opportunities in Wealth Management. Candidates should demonstrate strong critical and analytical thinking, excellent client service, oral and written communication skills, ambition to innovate and use emerging tools and technologies, teamwork and a desire to build a career in BigLaw. Summer classes typically range from 15 to 20 law students. The 2027 Summer Associate application period is closed.
