CSNSW offers placements to undergraduate and postgraduate psychology students across diverse program areas, including generalist psychology, drug and alcohol treatment, intensive programs, mental health, sex offender programs, violent offender programs, serious offender assessment, personality and behavioural disorder services, countering violent extremism, high risk offenders and disability services. Placements are subject to learning needs, supervisor availability, operational priorities and positive probity checks. Board approved supervisors are available for Professional, Clinical and Forensic students, with locations limited to supervisor availability. Applicants must provide a cover letter, resume or CV, university placement coordinator statement of support and university indemnity insurance. Probity checks may include declaration forms, identity checks, police checks, CSNSW database checks and a risk assessment, and can take up to six weeks. Placements are available across metropolitan, rural and remote locations, and affordable onsite staff accommodation may be available at some rural and remote correctional centres.
