Hamilton-Madison House Behavioral Health Services offers an APA-accredited psychology internship designed to prepare graduate students for clinical work with a diagnostically and culturally diverse, underserved population. Interns conduct clinical assessments and intakes under licensed psychologist supervision, provide individual, group, couple and family therapy, psychological evaluations, crisis intervention, case management, consultation and phone screening, and work with patients from age 5 through senior adulthood. The program includes weekly individual and group supervision, didactic seminars, case conferences, and a 15-week inpatient psychiatry rotation at Gracie Square Hospital. Interns typically work Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional evening hours ending no later than 6:30 pm, and complete approximately 1,750 internship hours. Applicants must have completed at least three years of study in a regionally accredited clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program in the United States, meet the stated assessment and psychotherapy coursework requirements, have at least 500 direct contact intervention hours and 25 direct contact assessment hours, and be verified as ready for internship by their graduate program. Preference is given to applicants who speak Mandarin and/or Cantonese, while other Asian-language and English-speaking candidates are also considered. The full-time internship offers an annual salary of $34,125, medical insurance access, 15 days of paid personal time off, 12 days of paid sick leave, and 3 discretionary days.
