Clark+Elbing is seeking a Patent Agent/Technology Specialist with a background in Biology or Chemistry to join its legal staff. The role collaborates with Partners on drafting and prosecuting patent applications and performing intellectual property due diligence, including patentability, freedom to operate, invalidity and infringement assessments. Duties include drafting and prosecuting patent applications, writing and editing technical materials, analyzing licensing agreements and investor due diligence studies, preparing patent-related opinion letters, synthesizing scientific information and data, and assisting Partners with client counsel. Qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Biology or Chemistry, 0-5+ years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm setting, excellent analytical and communication skills, teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is a plus but not required. Flexible working conditions, including remote and hybrid positions, are offered.
