New School San Francisco is seeking a part-time Middle School Art Teacher for approximately 16 hours per week. The teacher will develop and provide students with real world experience in creative expression, develop aesthetic understanding and appreciation, and help students use art to understand and make meaning of the world around them. Responsibilities include developing yearly scope and sequence, building integrated inquiry arcs, creating lesson plans, assessing student progress, using data to guide instruction, communicating with families, building an inclusive learning environment, and collaborating with colleagues. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree, three or more years of middle or high school teaching experience, knowledge of drawing, painting, animation and art history, experience with varied art mediums, and experience supporting students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse learning needs. The school seeks educators committed to anti-racism, pro-Blackness, collaboration, equity, curiosity and ongoing professional growth.
