Assist callers in navigating the mental health system and provide emotional support and information about available services. Duties include answering incoming calls, making outgoing calls to referred individuals, and making follow-up calls to provide secondary support. Volunteers complete a four-hour shift once a week or once a fortnight, with a minimum 12-month commitment and at least 20 shifts over 12 months. Applicants complete an initial phone screen, group interview and mandatory six-week training program, followed by four shifts alongside an experienced volunteer before taking calls under supervision. Every ListenWell Warmline worker has lived experience of mental health issues.
