Promote school readiness by supporting the social and cognitive development of enrolled children through educational, health, nutritional, social and related services. Responsibilities include creating developmentally appropriate curricula, designing and managing the classroom environment, planning with teaching and family support staff, maintaining relationships with children and families, observing and reporting developmental or safety concerns, evaluating progress, completing required documentation, conducting parent teacher conferences, maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment, managing behavior and supervision, developing weekly lesson plans and family newsletters, monitoring instruction effectiveness, attending training and staff meetings, and supervising classroom assistants and volunteers. A bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field and current valid certification issued by the State Education Department are required. Equivalent certification from an organization or agency granted reciprocity by the New York State Department of Education is also accepted.
