Responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients through to preparation of specimens for transportation. Duties include greeting patients, explaining specimen collection procedures, performing phlebotomies, connecting and disconnecting Holter monitors, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, ECG tracings and special test collections, maintaining client relationships, completing patient data entry, and preparing specimens for transportation and testing. Requirements include completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent related healthcare experience, ECG training or experience as an asset, proficient data entry, excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and strict patient privacy and confidentiality. Travel to multiple Patient Service Centres is required.
