Newtown Partners is recruiting an Investment Principal to join its venture capital investment team in Cape Town, South Africa, with a 2-days-a-week work-from-office arrangement. The role involves identifying and screening Seed and Series A technology startups, evaluating prospective investments and managing due diligence, supporting portfolio companies, developing thought leadership content, conducting business and technology research, and training investment team members. The successful candidate will report to the Managing Partner and manage investment professionals, including Associates and Senior Associates. Strong academic performance is required, with a Masters Degree in Finance or STEM subjects preferred and a CFA charter highly advantageous. The role requires 5-10 years of venture capital experience, including at least 3 years at senior management level, advanced financial modelling and Excel skills, strong research, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, entrepreneurial spirit, curiosity, and the ability to evaluate complex investment opportunities. Experience at a tech startup, early-stage venture capital investing in emerging markets, or blockchain investing is advantageous. Salary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
