Based at the Chalk Farm Workshop, Garage and Mortuary, the Funeral Assistant attends removals and funerals, carries out out of hours removals, fits coffins where required, drives and maintains vehicles, and carries coffins using a shoulder carry or trolley. The role involves responsibility for money, property and other valuable items belonging to the deceased, maintaining a smart and clean appearance, and working in line with health and safety requirements. Applicants should have good driving skills and awareness, a thorough understanding of funeral and repatriation requirements, sensitivity with confidential information, a professional and empathetic telephone manner, good communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, excellent timekeeping and diary management, and familiarity with company procedures and policies.
