Responsible for delivering academic programmes and managing and organising the academic operation of the centre. Duties include organising student testing, placement and induction, supporting and guiding teachers, leading teacher induction and relevant CPD sessions, timetabling classes, allocating teaching staff, managing academic materials and resources, maintaining academic administration, conducting lesson observations and staff appraisals, teaching when required, completing student reports, supporting centre set-up and closure, assisting with the day-to-day running of the centre, supervising student wake-ups and bedtimes, running weekly academic projects and presentations, supporting accreditation inspections, communicating with students, agents and parents about academic matters, arranging peer observations and cover, assisting with safeguarding, and ensuring Bucksmore policies and procedures are followed. The role is based in Oxford, London or Brighton. Bucksmore summer courses run from 1 July to 12 August, with a typical contract length of 4 to 6 weeks. Online training and a paid induction period are provided before students arrive. Remuneration is Band A: £994.13 per week including holiday pay, Band B: £914.51 per week including holiday pay, or Band C: £800.20 per week including holiday pay. Essential requirements include excellent communication and leadership skills, strong organisation, the ability to work under pressure, native or native-level English, experience in a residential summer school or similar management role, experience working with young learners, a first degree, at least three years of teaching experience, and relevant TESOL, ELT or Applied Linguistics qualifications and experience teaching learners aged 10 to 18.
