Details.
A medically supervised oral desensitisation programme for children aged 5 and under. It involves gradually increasing measured amounts of sesame, starting with sesame flour and later tahini. Each dose increase is supervised by a nurse specialist or doctor, with daily home dosing between appointments. The programme includes an assessment visit, training, ongoing follow-up and consultant-led up-dosing appointments. The maintenance dose is 280mg, equivalent to 1ml of tahini, taken daily or potentially three times a week. Suitability requires confirmed sesame allergy, well-controlled asthma and eczema, and a reliable commitment to regular dosing.
