Pupil Barrister

at Outer Temple Chambers · London

Details.

Outer Temple Chambers offers a structured, well supported, challenging and well remunerated twelve month pupillage commencing in September 2025. Pupils sit with four pupil supervisors in different areas of work, with seats tailored to areas of interest or covering a broad range of chambers' specialisms. During the practising six, pupils undertake their own cases and assist pupil supervisors. The programme includes regular feedback and quarterly reviews, advocacy training through mock hearings, and opportunities to marshal with former members who are now full-time judges. Pupils can gain experience in personal injury, employment matters, low value contractual disputes and other civil and commercial practice areas. A mentoring scheme and wellbeing support are available. The award for pupillages commencing September 2025 is £80,000 for twelve months, with up to 25% available for early drawdown during the BPC year. Candidates should demonstrate intellectual ability, potential as an advocate, motivation, drive and commitment, and professional compatibility with Chambers. A 2:1 first degree or above is preferred, with no preference between an undergraduate law degree and a one-year GDL conversion course.
