Details.
Trained general practitioners provide low-risk procedures commonly managed in primary care where clinically appropriate. Procedures include laceration management, skin lesion biopsies and removals, excisions, curettage, wound repair, removal of cysts or ingrown toenails, and long-acting reversible contraception insertion and removal. The GP assesses medical history and discusses the procedure, potential risks and aftercare requirements. Follow-up care, pathology review or referral may be arranged where required.
