Anti-VEGF Treatment

at Marsden Eye Specialists · Sydney

Details.

An injection delivered directly into the affected eye to help stop or limit retinal damage caused by abnormal blood vessels. The procedure is typically performed in the clinic using local anaesthetic and takes less than 30 seconds, although cleaning and numbing the eye takes most of the preparation time. It is used for wet macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and vascular eye disease. Small floaters and intermittent blurring may occur after treatment and often resolve within a few hours. Injection intervals are determined through follow-up appointments and scans of the back of the eye. After treatment, nurses provide instructions for eye care over the next 24 hours and explain when to contact the clinic.
