Details.
A modern, minimally invasive day-case treatment for varicose veins and incompetent truncal or perforator veins. Performed under local anaesthetic with ultrasound guidance, the procedure uses microwave energy to heat and permanently close the affected vein. It is particularly suitable for large or tortuous veins that may be unsuitable for standard laser or radiofrequency techniques. Patients can walk immediately after treatment, most return to normal activities within hours, and exercise within a few days. Compression stockings may be advised, and follow-up ultrasound scans are arranged. Most patients require one session per affected vein, although additional sessions may be recommended when multiple veins or both legs are involved.
