Surgical implantation of an FDA-approved VNS device under the skin in the upper left chest, followed by in-clinic physical therapy paired with wireless vagus nerve stimulation to improve hand and arm function. After a one-week recovery from implantation, therapy includes specific rehabilitation tasks. Patients may also activate the system at home during rehabilitation exercises and routine activities. Intended for chronic ischemic stroke survivors with persistent moderate to severe hand and arm impairment after physical therapy.
