Dental Crowns

at endodontist · London

Details.

A full cover that fits over a tooth, usually constructed in porcelain to match natural teeth, with gold also available if required. The treatment includes an assessment of the tooth and root health via radiograph, removal of old filling material where needed, tooth preparation, a digital scan sent to the laboratory, a temporary crown while the permanent crown is constructed, and fitting and bonding of the porcelain crown at a second appointment. The temporary crown is normally worn for 2 weeks. Old fillings may be replaced before crown placement, and root filled teeth with insufficient remaining structure may also require a post and new core filling. Crowns can repair heavily filled teeth, reduce the risk of fracture, and occasionally improve appearance.
