A veneer is a thin layer of tooth-coloured material placed onto the teeth to improve the appearance of crooked or worn teeth, gaps and discolouration. Veneers can treat single or multiple teeth as part of a smile design treatment, with two or more visits usually required. They are usually made from porcelain by a dental technician. Treatment may include photographs, study casts, checking existing fillings, minimal tooth preparation, impressions, temporary veneers, shade matching and bonding the completed veneers to the teeth.
