A medical practitioner injects Ellanse®, a biocompatible and biodegradable poly-L-lactic acid injectable, into areas of volume loss. It naturally stimulates collagen production and is used for lines, wrinkles, folds, nasolabial folds, lines around the mouth, wrinkles in the cheeks and chin, sunken cheeks, recessed temples, jowls and hands. Usually one treatment is required. Anaesthetic is provided as required. Sensitivity typically lasts 1 day, recovery takes 2 to 3 days, and patients can return to work the same day. Results are stated to last 12 to 26 months depending on the Ellanse type used, while the treatment summary states 9 to 12 months.
