Join Fortian's summer or winter internship program and gain hands-on experience in cyber security. Interns work alongside the security operations team, learn about customer protection techniques, assist with real client projects, complete a technical project of their own and present it to the management team. The role provides exposure to security strategy and architecture, managed security services, security assurance, incident response, risk, security governance and privacy. Fortian is seeking students who are curious about how systems work, passionate about cybersecurity, committed to learning and keeping customers safe. Applicants should preferably be in their penultimate year of university and must be Australian permanent residents or Australian citizens. The role is a one-month full-time short-term contract over the winter or summer university break. Winter placements start on 29 June 2026 and summer placements start on 11 January 2027, with some flexibility depending on the applicant's state and university holiday dates. Interstate applicants spend weeks 1 and 4 in the Melbourne office and the remaining time working remotely. Melbourne-based applicants will work with Fortian to determine the best working location and schedule. Remuneration is $6,250 including superannuation, with up to $2,000 in travel and accommodation expenses covered for applicants not based in Melbourne.
