CSNSW offers placements to undergraduate and postgraduate psychology students across diverse program areas, including generalist psychology, drug and alcohol treatment, intensive programs, violent and sexual offender programs, mental health support, serious offender assessment, personality and behavioural disorder services, countering violent extremism, high risk offenders, and disability services. Placements are available across metro, rural and remote locations, subject to learning needs, supervisor availability and operational priorities. Board-approved supervisors are available for Professional, Clinical and Forensic students, although locations are limited by supervisor availability. Students must apply through their university placement coordinator and submit a cover letter, resume or CV, placement coordinator statement of support and university indemnity insurance. Applications are reviewed for suitability and placement availability. Placements are subject to positive probity checks, which may include declaration forms, name and date of birth checks, police checks, CSNSW database checks and risk assessment. Probity checks can take up to 6 weeks. Some rural and remote locations may offer affordable onsite staff accommodation. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander psychology students are encouraged to consider CSNSW for placement and career opportunities.
