Group prenatal care integrating health assessment, education, and support. Groups of eight to twelve women with similar gestational ages meet for facilitated discussions, care skills, standard physical health assessments, and peer support. Each pregnancy group meets for 10 sessions throughout pregnancy and early postpartum. Topics include infant growth and development, immunizations, nutrition, illness, oral health, child safety, behavior, postpartum care, family planning, mental health, breastfeeding, relationships and safe sex, infant attachment, and life balance.
