Shockwave Therapy

at Portland Physiotherapy · London

Details.

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy uses mechanical, low-energy sound waves passed through the skin to the injured area. It can provide pain relief for common tendon injuries by increasing blood flow, reducing pain and supporting the body's healing process. The treatment is non-invasive, has no infection risk, and is recommended by NICE for chronic conditions. A course of treatments is usually required, with sessions one to three weeks apart, and the number of treatments reviewed for chronic conditions. Suitable for tendon pain, movement restriction and return to exercise and normal function.
