Western Acupuncture uses very fine single-use pre-sterilised needles to stimulate specific acupuncture points and is intended to reduce pain, inflammation and muscle stiffness. Before treatment, a Physiotherapist will ask questions to assess suitability and obtain consent. Acupuncture may be used alone but is generally combined with other appropriate treatment modalities. Patients are advised to eat something beforehand and to mention if they are new to acupuncture so extra time can be taken to explain the process.
