Vagus Nerve Stimulation for Stroke Rehabilitation

at Shookoonsingh Reshma · New York City

Details.

Combines an implanted vagus nerve stimulation device with in-clinic physical therapy to improve hand and arm function for chronic ischemic stroke survivors who have not regained sufficient upper limb function after active rehabilitation. The device is implanted during an outpatient procedure, followed by a one-week recovery period and continued in-clinic physical therapy. At-home therapy can pair rehabilitation exercises and routine activities with magnet-activated stimulation. Surgery and rehabilitation are covered through most insurances.
