Loss Adjusters independently evaluate insurance claims, usually for an insurance company. Duties include assessing damage, identifying causes, checking policy coverage and conditions, quantifying losses, and recommending how policyholders can recover. The role can involve attending claim sites, gathering and checking evidence, interviewing policyholders, liaising with contractors, suppliers, brokers and lawyers, reviewing policies, writing reports, advising on future loss mitigation and providing evidence in court. Loss Adjusters may work in liability, property, construction, energy and engineering, claimant, business interruption or fraud investigation, across sectors including commercial, motor, marine, agriculture and petrochemicals.
