Direct and manage, through subordinate supervisors, staff engaged in a major statewide property tax administration program. Responsibilities may include directing, advising, and instructing local and state officials involved in property tax administration and evaluating county assessors' conformity with laws, Board of Equalization rules, and court rulings, or locating, valuing, auditing, assessing, and allocating taxable assets of railroads and other state-assessed utilities and preparing annual assessment rolls. The position requires planning, organizing, and directing property appraisal and audit staff, developing subordinate staff, resolving complex supervisory and managerial problems, willingness to travel and work odd hours away from the office, and either qualifying state service experience or five years of major and complex property appraisal experience for tax assessment purposes, including at least two years in a full supervisory or administrative capacity, plus education equivalent to graduation from college.
