Professor Intisar Rabb is seeking student research assistants for Spring 2026. Lab members participate in the SHARIAsource Lab, which meets every other week as part of the Harvard Program in Islamic Law's initiative to use AI and data science tools to study Islamic law and history. Opportunities include conducting research, preparing data, and performing text analysis on materials related to Islamic law. Knowledge of Arabic and/or Persian is a plus but not required. Positions are open to HLS students. Harvard students outside HLS may apply if they have knowledge of computer science and/or Arabic, while students not enrolled at Harvard are not eligible. Applications require a single-paragraph statement of interest, resume, and unofficial transcript. Positions run through Spring 2026 with a possibility of renewal. Applicants should indicate their preferred project and availability of 7 to 10 hours per week, with limited cases allowing up to 20 hours in some weeks.
