A School Resource Officer is an educator, law enforcer and counselor. Primary duties include protecting the school's safe environment, maintaining an atmosphere where students and staff feel safe to learn, assisting with investigations of criminal activity on school campuses with administrators in accordance with New York State law and district policy, and presenting information to faculty and students on topics including law, drugs, safety, crime prevention, violence prevention, traffic laws and related subjects.
