Urban designers shape towns, cities, streets and spaces through collaborative and multidisciplinary placemaking. Ryder's work includes regional spatial planning, city and town centre regeneration, education and healthcare estates, business and innovation districts, streets, parks and public spaces. The role can include masterplanning, connectivity and public realm strategies, site and contextual analysis, research, planning input, historic research, heritage statements and stakeholder and community engagement. A typical route is a Level 6 undergraduate qualification followed by a Level 7 master's degree in urban design. Ryder supports progression towards recognised practitioner status through the Urban Design Group.
