A two-part workshop exploring pit firing. Includes Day 1 instruction on burnishing and terra sigillata application, limited studio access for handbuilding or throwing pieces, Cone 010 bisque firing, Day 2 pit firing instruction at Ocean Beach, pit firing materials including wood, combustibles, and sagger materials, and guidance throughout the process. Some pottery experience is required. Participants may fire up to 5 to 6 pieces, with a maximum size of 6 inches per piece. Backup firing dates are August 9, August 15, and August 16, subject to weather and air-quality conditions. The workshop is sold out.
