Based at Gibson’s Funeral Services in Bishop Auckland, the Funeral Service Operative plays a vital role in the service and is often among the first team members to meet families. Duties include bringing people's loved ones into care, working in the mortuary, fitting coffins, dressing the deceased, participating in funeral services, pallbearing and helping everything run smoothly. The role involves driving company vehicles, requiring a full driving licence, and participation in an out of hours and on-call rota. The successful person will also be trained as a Funeral Director to support business needs. Previous funeral industry experience is desirable but not essential.
