Reporting to the Director, this role is responsible for the safe, timely and efficient production of retail timber products, including the manufacture and finishing of timber products, particularly benchtops and tables, while managing a production team. Responsibilities include overseeing solid timber benchtop and bespoke joinery production, scheduling jobs, managing the joinery workshop, planning production, supervising and training staff, maintaining accuracy and quality finishes, interpreting detailed drawings, operating and maintaining tools, implementing quality control procedures, maintaining benchtop consumable stock levels, keeping the workshop clean and safe, following WH&S procedures, and improving processes. The role requires solid woodworking skills, knowledge of timber species, the ability to follow production schedules, strong attention to detail, safe work practices, teamwork, problem solving, numeracy, leadership, communication and computer skills including MS Excel, Outlook and Word. Relevant woodworking or timber machining qualifications, proven experience as a skilled woodworker or machinist, and supervisory or management experience are required. Personal requirements include an interest in technical and engineering activities, the ability to work independently and in a team, take responsibility, communicate effectively and take pride in the work.
