XEN Gel Stent

at Dr George Kong · Melbourne

Details.

A minimally invasive glaucoma surgery procedure using a soft, flexible collagen tube to create a new drainage channel in the eye. It is typically performed alone when medications have not reduced eye pressure sufficiently, and may also be performed with cataract surgery. The procedure can be used for more types of glaucoma, including glaucoma where the natural drainage channel is damaged or closed. It is performed under local anaesthetic and may take approximately 30 minutes. After surgery, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops are prescribed, and regular follow-up appointments are required.
