Surgical treatment in which the Saphenous vein is tied off and removed through incisions in the leg. A compressive bandage is used for a few days. Performed under general anesthesia in a hospital operating room as outpatient surgery. Patients are encouraged to walk the same day and should not fly for two weeks afterward.
