Includes surgical implantation of an FDA-approved VNS device under the skin in the upper left chest during an outpatient procedure, followed by in-clinic physical therapy paired with vagus nerve stimulation. After a one-week recovery from implantation, a therapist uses a wireless transmitter to activate the device while the stroke survivor performs specific tasks. At-home therapy can include magnet-activated VNS during rehabilitation exercises and routine activities.
