Vagus nerve stimulation is provided during in-clinic physical therapy to improve upper limb function for chronic ischemic stroke survivors who continue to experience moderate to severe hand and arm impairment after active rehabilitation. The service includes outpatient surgical implantation of the VNS device, in-clinic physical therapy paired with stimulation after a one-week recovery period, and magnet-activated VNS for rehabilitation exercises and routine tasks at home. Patients are discharged the same day as implantation, and the surgery and rehabilitation are covered through most insurances.
