A neurostimulation device used during in-clinic physical therapy to help chronic ischemic stroke survivors who continue to experience moderate to severe hand and arm impairment. The device is surgically implanted under the skin in the upper left chest during an outpatient procedure, with patients discharged the same day. After a one-week recovery, physical therapy pairs specific tasks with stimulation. Patients may also activate the system at home during rehabilitation exercises or routine activities. Surgery and rehabilitation are covered through most insurances.
