Combines an FDA-approved VNS device with in-clinic physical therapy to improve hand and arm function for chronic ischemic stroke survivors who have not regained mobility after active rehabilitation. The device is implanted under the skin in an outpatient procedure, followed by a one-week recovery and physical therapy using wireless stimulation during specific tasks. Patients may also activate the system at home with a magnet while practicing rehabilitation exercises or performing daily activities. Surgery and rehabilitation are covered through most insurances.
