Includes surgical implantation of an FDA-approved VNS device under the skin in the upper left chest during an outpatient procedure, followed by in-clinic physical therapy paired with vagus nerve stimulation. After a one-week recovery from implantation, therapists use a wireless transmitter to activate the device while patients perform specific rehabilitation tasks. Patients may also use a magnet activator at home during rehabilitation exercises and routine activities.
