A neurostimulation treatment offered within the Enhanced Stroke Recovery Program for chronic ischemic stroke survivors with moderate to severe hand and arm impairment who have participated in physical therapy but have not regained function. The VNS device is surgically implanted during an outpatient procedure, followed by in-clinic physical therapy paired with wireless stimulation after a one-week recovery period. Patients may also activate the system at home during rehabilitation exercises and daily activities. Surgery and rehabilitation are covered through most insurances.
