Details.
A neurostimulation therapy for chronic ischemic stroke survivors with persistent moderate to severe hand and arm impairment despite active physical therapy. The program combines outpatient implantation of an FDA-approved VNS device with in-clinic physical therapy, during which a therapist pairs stimulation with specific rehabilitation tasks. After a one-week recovery from implantation, patients continue in-clinic therapy, and a magnet activator can be used during rehabilitation exercises and routine activities at home. Surgery and rehabilitation are covered through most insurances. A consultation is available to determine whether the therapy is appropriate.
