Details.
Combines an implanted vagus nerve stimulation device with in-clinic physical therapy to improve upper limb function for chronic ischemic stroke survivors who continue to experience moderate to severe hand and arm impairment after active rehabilitation. The device is implanted during an outpatient procedure, with same-day discharge, followed by a one-week recovery period and paired VNS during physical therapy. Magnet-activated VNS can also be used during rehabilitation exercises and routine tasks at home. Most insurance plans cover the surgery and rehabilitation.
