Vagus Nerve Stimulation for Stroke Rehabilitation

at Mount Sinai · New York

Details.

After a one-week recovery from implantation, a therapist pairs vagus nerve stimulation with specific rehabilitation tasks. Patients may also use a magnet activator during home exercises and daily activities. Intended for chronic ischemic stroke survivors who continue to have moderate to severe hand and arm impairment despite active physical therapy. Surgery and rehabilitation are covered through most insurances.
