Combines an implanted vagus nerve stimulation device with in-clinic physical therapy to improve upper limb function for chronic ischemic stroke survivors who continue to experience moderate to severe hand and arm impairment after active rehabilitation. The device is implanted under the skin in the upper left chest during an outpatient procedure, followed by a one-week recovery period and in-clinic physical therapy. At-home rehabilitation exercises and routine activities can use a magnet activator to stimulate the device. Surgery and rehabilitation are covered through most insurances.
